Meet Pobs & Moxie!
Naturally curious, children love to connect with and learn from animal characters. To help us on our journey, we are delighted to introduce our monkey friends, Pobs and Moxie. We chose monkeys as we felt that these animals connect naturally to the playfulness of childhood and to the endearing names we sometimes call young children.
Each issue will feature a children's story where Pobs teaches Moxie a mindfulness practice to respond to an issue that arises. Moxie and Pobs are featured throughout the magazine and introduce mindfulness practices, reflections and activities in a fun and engaging way. Pobs offers helpful tips for parents on ways of approaching the activities that encourage and support connection with their children.
Pobs and Moxie are represented as gender-neutral to ensure that our content always remains inclusive.

"Mindful Monkey Magazine is beautifully and creatively put together. It appeals to both my parental need for tools to use with myself and my child, and also to the playful nature of my child. We sat together and read the POBS story and later in some fun physical play, we called out pause and looked inside to notice our heart beats, the warmth in our bodies, and our feeling of fun, and then took the 3 breaths and noticed we were smiling. I shared that I could use POBS when I notice I am feeling impatient. My son offered that he could use it at school when he notices his urge to strike out at someone when he is mad. I have been trying to teach my son this very process, but he was quite resistant. The story and sweet monkey characters brought the practice to life for him in a creative and sweet way. Thank you Sara and Melanie! I look forward to the next issue!"
Mom of 6 year-old boy
"I really enjoyed Mindful Monkey Magazine. It had a nice balance for both parents and children alike. I particularly enjoyed the piece called 'How to maintain and nurture connection with your child when strong emotions come to visit'. I found it relevant to what’s happening in my busy life with three little ones, easy to understand why it’s occurring and how simple it can be to implement a mindful strategy. I look forward to many more connected moments with my girls."

What the experts are saying...
"I love the way Melanie Viglas and Sara Marlowe have extended the metaphor of the "monkey mind" into this charming magazine, teaching young children and their parents essential skills for managing our tricky minds. The exercises are simply delightful - easy to read and fun to do - with endearing illustrations. I especially appreciate how the exercises engage both parents and children in a shared learning experience. Looking forward to the next issue!"
